BUILDING ON IDEAS

Something about this clever and with today’s weather extremes, seemingly much needed design for a temporary housing shelter, designed by Eileen Penot, has caught my eye. Her design for this “house kit” is all about the community and allowing people to return to there property after a disaster. The design element of each piece of the house being pre-assembled allows the community to rebuild itself with maybe even no tools at all, just a helping hand from your neighbor. After a disaster the spirits are down of everyone affected, this idea of creating shelter and bringing a community back together will surly lift spirits and empower all. The unit now will come in a light weight kit-of-parts and the multi-purpose space can be erected by just a couple of people, hopefully in a day’s time. The dwelling will be constructed of sustainable/renewable materials and can be reused at another location.
